Google Groups
Google groups are neat for a classroom discussion because they allow individuals a chance to take part in a group discussion. It is designed to allows individuals in large groups to organize an online group. This group of people can collaborate with each other. But, I do not find it very useful in my future classroom. Unlike a blog or webpage, google groups allows students to change others students words. I do not like this feature. It is also a little scattered and unorganized. I think it would be a little difficult to have students understand and manage this site. Google groups send each member a message when a page or comment is added. This is very annoying. I had thirty or so e-mails by the class period we practiced using google groups in. The NET standard I found that fits will with google groups is 1c. – It promotes student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
